Our high court will hear claims that a fraternity should be held accountable for forcing a pledge to drink a fatal amount of alcohol.
This week the court announced it will review the negligence case stemming from David Bogenberger’s death at Northern Illinois University in 2012.
The big issue in this lawsuit is how Illinois law assigns liability for alcohol-related injuries. A line of statutes and court cases dating back to the late 1800s generally protected taverns and hosts who served alcohol from lawsuits.
