In Chicago, Contractors that want city work would need to have sexual harassment policies in place

The ordinance would require primary contractors seeking work through any contracts put out for bid by the city’s procurement office to sign affidavits starting June 30, swearing that they have written sexual harassment policies to protect their employees. The Workforce Development Committee passed it Thursday.

The policies would need to acknowledge sexual harassment is illegal, incorporate the definition of “sexual harassment” laid out in city code and provide legal recourse for victims, according to city Chief Procurement Officer Jamie Rhee.
