A resident of Chicago is still in critical condition only days following a vehicle injury accident in which the man was dragged and hit by a taxi. This terrible hit-and-run collision took place on Friday, May 14, 2010, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Initial reports indicated the accident victim was trying to get a cab at around 3:30 p.m. Friday. When a cab finally stopped, witnesses observed that the man became involved in an altercation with the driver. When the man bent down to look through the taxi window, the driver sped off, trapping the man in the window of the cab.
The driver of the cab carried the man several blocks before fleeing the scene. The victim suffered severe traumatic injuries. The injuries included two skull fractures, a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and some other miscellaneous injuries. Further, there were visible tire marks on the victim’s legs, which show he was run-over by the taxi.
Many times, when someone suffers a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury, they may suffer permanent, lifelong disability. These disabilities may require 24-hour medical care and extensive medical treatment. That is why it is so important to get guidance from an injury legal professional about what steps you may need to take to protect your ability to receive compensation for your injuries.
