Chicago Google Employees Walk Out To Protest Sexual Misconduct

Several reports across social media show Google employees walking out of work in Chicago Thursday morning to protest how the company has been handling sexual harrassment and discrimination claims.

According to organizers of the Google Walkout for Real Change, the protests demanding action for better treatment of women are taking place worldwide Thursday.

Employees at nearly two-thirds of Google’s global offices are walking out of their offices to demand the following five changes stemming from a history of harrassment and discrimination claims, according to the organizers:

An end to Forced Arbitration
A commitment to end pay and opportunity inequity
A publicly disclosed sexual harassment transparency report
A clear, uniform, globally inclusive process for reporting sexual misconduct
Promote the Chief Diversity Officer to answer directly to the CEO and make recommendations directly to the Board of Directors. In addition, appoint an Employee Representative to the Board.
