CHICAGO (AP) — Programs to benefit Illinois victims of domestic violence and sexual assault will share $3.8 million in federal grant money.
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin on Monday announced the funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women. The money goes to programs in Chicago and Springfield. Durbin says the funding will ensure victims have a voice in the justice system and access to support services.
The largest chunk of grant money, about $3 million, will go to Alliance of Local Service Organizations in Chicago. Other recipients include the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Korean American Women in Need and the city of Chicago.
