Police Seek Car Involved in Fatal Hit and Run Accident

The following is a guest post by the Boston wrongful death attorneys of the Kiley Law Group:

An innocent attempt to cross the street near Cottage Grove and 53rd St in Chicago last month, ended in the death of the 80-year-old Lawrence Moore who was struck and killed by an irresponsible hit-and-run driver. Local residents know that area, about a block away from Moore’s apartment, as a particularly dangerous spot, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Moore’s friends say he was a vibrant man, despite his arthritis. His sudden death shocked the neighborhood and caused outrage at the driver’s actions to flee the scene after striking a pedestrian.

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable people in the event of an accident, especially some seniors whose frail health may slow them down when crossing a street. In this case, Moore, who used a cane for walking, was trying to cross Cottage Grove Avenue when he was hit by, the police believe, a light-colored, 4-door Buick.

The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert last week asking for people to come forward with information regarding the car. The front grille of the passenger side of the vehicle would have been damaged in the crash, which would make it easier to identify.

The attorneys at the Kiley Law Group extend their deepest condolences to the family of Lawrence Moore and hope that the hit-and-run driver will come forward. The Kiley Law Group represents the families of those killed in wrongful death cases throughout the state of Massachusetts.
